The investigation into the tragic death of Raquel Candia, the partner of former Argentine footballer Fernando Caceres, is underway, according to a report from FootBoom

Candia died after falling from the seventh floor of a building in Buenos Aires, with Caceres reportedly present in the apartment at the time.

Her family has expressed suspicions that it was a case of femicide, while Caceres, who suffers from reduced mobility due to the aftermath of a robbery in 2009, was said to have been in an adjacent room when the incident occurred.

An autopsy is being conducted to shed light on the exact circumstances surrounding Candia's death.

One of her brothers was believed to have told reporters at the scene that he believes the retired footballer played a hand in Candia's untimely death, while there were witnesses who claimed Caceres had a history of mistreating her.

"It should be noted that Caceres was in their home, resting in an adjoining room," sources stated as the investigation continues.

Initial autopsy findings revealed that were no signs of defensive wounds or any pre-impact injuries, the publication reports.

Caceres, now 55, had been shot in 2009 during a botched robbery attempt in which thieves tried to steal his car. The bullet fractured the base of his skull, causing him to lose his right eye. After years of rehab, he regained the ability to walk in 2015.
