James Rodriguez has been on the chopping block at Real Madrid since Zinedine Zidane's return to the club, but the French manager appears to have made a U-turn on the Colombian forward's future.

Rodriguez spent the past two seasons at Bayern Munich after being loaned out by Zidane during the manager's first spell at Real, and looked set to leave upon making his return to Madrid in June.
Serie A side Napoli were reportedly close to completing a deal to sign the Colombia international, but Los Blancos appear to have now changed their stance.
According to the Daily Mail, who cited Deportes COPE, Rodriguez's position at Real has changed and the club are no longer willing to sanction his departure.

It was believed that the Spanish giants would use the income from the 28-year-old's sale to fund a move for Manchester United superstar Paul Pogba, but he is now reportedly part of Zidane's plans for the season.
The Frenchman's decision comes just weeks after star playmaker Marco Asensio was ruled out for the season after suffering a serious ACL injury.

The former Monaco star scored 15 goals in 67 appearances during his spell in Germany, winning the DFB Pokal and two Bundesliga titles along the way.
