Following Keylor Navas' decision to hand in a transfer request, Los Blancos are reportedly in the market to sign a new back-up goalkeeper before the transfer window closes.

According to AS, Real have identified former Barca academy and current AC Milan stopper Pepe Reina as the perfect candidate to fill the role should Navas leave.

The 36-year-old, who made 49 senior appearances for the Blaugrana, is currently AC Milan's second-choice goalkeeper behind Gianluigi Donnarumma and is said to be open to a return to Spain.

The Madrid-born shot-stopper is seen as an experienced cover option to Thibaut Courtois, having turned out for the likes of Liverpool, Bayern Munich and Napoli during the course of his career so far.

Reina was also part of the Spain side that won the 2010 Fifa World Cup and two Uefa European Championships, and it is believed he would be a positive influence in the dressing room, particularly among the club's Spanish players.

Real have also identified the experienced trio of Maarten Stekelenburg, Antonio Mirante and Danijel Subasic as alternatives in the event they are unable to persuade Reina to join.
