It has been reported that Real Madrid star Karim Benzema could be set for a sensational return to France's 2022 FIFA World Cup squad, after withdrawing from the competition earlier this month.

The Los Blancos No. 9 was forced to pull out of Les Bleus' World Cup campaign after picking up a thigh injury in the days leading up to the tournament in Qatar.
Benzema, 34, had been a doubt for France but was named in Didier Deschamps' squad anyway, before sustaining a new muscle issue that led to the world champions announcing that he would be missing the competition.
According to RMC Sport, however, the 2022 Ballon d'Or winner could be in line for a return to the team amid rumours that he has recovered from the injury that caused him to pull out from the squad.
The report claims the experienced striker has returned to full training this week at Real Madrid, leading to suggestions that he could theoretically be allowed to rejoin the French camp, having last represented his country at a World Cup in 2014.
It is said that FIFA rules permit players to return to their squads if they recover from injury after initially being named in the final selection.

Deschamps' men have booked their place in the round of 16 following their two group-stage wins in their opening two matches, with their final Group D encounter coming against Tunisia on Wednesday.
