Real Madrid 'Eye' Mbappe Alternative

Real Madrid 'Eye' Mbappe Alternative

Real Madrid have reportedly identified an alternative to Kylian Mbappe should they fail to sign the Frenchman.

Real Madrid have reportedly identified an alternative option to fill their striker void should they fail to acquire Kylian Mbappe's services.

This past off-season, Los Blancos did not anticipate the departure of club legend Karim Benzema.

The record UEFA Champions League winners were expecting the 35-year-old to give them one more season before ultimately departing, but he decided that the 2022/23 campaign would be his last in the Spanish capital.

This left Los Merengues in a precarious position regarding their attack as Benzema's exit coincided with Mbappe making it known that he will not be extending his contract at the Parc des Princes.

While the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner publicly stated that he would not be committing his future to Paris Saint-Germain, he is still contracted to Les Parisiens and it does not seem like the LALIGA giants are eager to enter into negotiations with the French giants for their talisman.

It appears Real are not planning on putting all their eggs into the Mbappe basket, as they did when his PSG contract expired in 2022, and already have a player in mind to succeed Benzema outside of his compatriot.

According to Fichajes, Victor Osimhen is the name the Spanish giants are seriously considering signing instead.

The attacker has been in sublime form since the beginning of last season and the chiefs at Valdebebas appreciate the Lagos native's clinical nature and attacking versatility.

They are also said to see a potential partnership alongside Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo Goes as one that could thrive for years to come in Madrid.

The same report claims that Napoli could ask for a fee as high as €200 million (R4 billion) for the Nigerian, but with two years left on his current deal and an extension still failing to materialise in Naples, they will perhaps be hoping to secure his services for a cheaper price.
