Result: Real Madrid 2-0 Osasuna

Date: 25 September 2019

Venue: Santiago Bernabeu

Real Madrid reclaimed top spot in LaLiga following a 2-0 victory over Osasuna, with two Brazilian teenagers getting the on the score-sheet on Wednesday evening.
With the Madrid derby on the horizon against Atletico Madrid, Zinedine Zidane rang the changes from their win over Sevilla, with the likes of Eden Hazard, James Rodriguez and Karim Benzema rested on the bench.   Los Blancos were applying the pressure in the early stages and nearly went ahead in the 18th minute after Raul Navas misdirected a cross into the area towards his own goals but he was saved by goalkeeper Ruben Martinez, who made a point-blank range save while Luka Jovic failed to capitalise on the rebound with the net gaping.   Vinicius Junior eventually broke the deadlock for the hosts with 14 minutes remaining of the first stanza, after curling home unstoppable shot from the edge of the box for his first goal of the season.   At the other end, Osasuna were unable to find their rhythm in the game as Los Blancos goalkeeper Alphonse Areola did not have much to do in the first stanza, as Madrid went to the break with the slender 1-0 lead.   Jovic  eventually found the finishing touches to a cross inside the area by Lucas Vazquez two minutes before the hour-mark and slotted past Martinez, but the Video Assistant referee got involved and the goal was chalked off for offside in the build-up.   Zidane only made his first change with 20 minutes remaining as teenager Rodrygo replaced Vinicius Junior and the substitute made an instant impact, as he got the second goal for Madrid immediately after coming on, with low shot past Martinez.   Rodrygo almost got the third goal in the last three minutes after getting on the end of a header at the back-post but his out-stretched shot missed the target by inches as the encounter finished 2-0 to Los Blancos, who move to the summit.
