Real Madrid have been crowned Copa del Rey champions for the first time since 2014 after defeating Osasuna 2-1 in the final on Saturday night.

Result: Real Madrid 2-1 Osasuna

Date: 06 May 2023

Venue: Estadio Olímpico de Sevilla

Vinicius Junior and Eduaord Camavinga returned from suspension for Los Blancos, while Karim Benzema and Federico Valverde were also recalled by Carlo Ancelotti after the loss to Real Sociedad.

Vinicius made his presence felt early on as he skipped past two defenders before pulling the back for Rodrygo, who slotted home from close range to open the scoring after just two minutes.

Osasuna, who were appearing in their second final, managed to regroup after the early goal and went close to pulling level on 15 minutes when Jon Moncayola's free-kick found Moi Gomez, who sent his header wide of the mark.

The game began to open after that, with Osasuna's Abdessamad Ezzalzouli seeing his effort cleared off the line by Dani Carvajal before David Alaba hit the crossbar with a free-kick from distance.

Ancelotti's men did end the first half the stronger of the two sides, however they were unable to add to their tally before the arrival of the halftime break.

That all changed after the halftime break, as Osasuna found the equaliser in the 58th minute when Ezzalzouli's cross fell into the path of Lucas Torro who rifled the ball into bottom corner from the edge of the box.

Osasuna's joy was short-lived though as Vinicius was at the heart of it once again, as he skipped past Moncayola before seeing his cross deflect its way to Rodrygo, who made no mistake from close-range to complete his brace.

Osasuna responded with a double change for the final 15 minutes, as Kike Barja and Ruben Garcia replaced Ezzalzouli and Ruben Pena as they went in search of another equaliser.
