The Top 10 Dribblers In Europe, Cristiano Ronaldo Not In Top 100

Football statistics institute CIES has revealed the top 10 dribblers in Europe, but neither Lionel Messi nor Cristiano Ronaldo sit in first place – and the latter is not even among the top 100.

Somewhat surprisingly, Middlesbrough's Adama Traore is the best dribbler in Europe, according to the International Centre for Sports Studies (CIES), who compared the attempted dribbles of players in Europe's top five league with successful dribbles to calculate a "dribbling index".

The former FC Barcelona youth product attempted 194 dribbles and had a success rate of 70%. Although he did not achieve the highest sub-scores in either attempted dribbles (Neymar with 269) or successful dribbles (Wylan Cyprien of Nice with 87%), he did get the highest overall score in CIES' dribbling index.

Chelsea's Eden Hazard follows in second place with a 75% success rate from his 169 dribbles, ahead of Bastia's Allan Saint-Maximin, who completed 64% of his 217 dribbling attempts.

Neymar, who has the most attempted dribbles in Europe's top five leagues but only completed 53% of them, follows in fourth place.

Crystal Palace's Wilfried Zaha completes the top five with a 51% success rate from his 231 dribbles, while Messi follows in sixth spot, having attempted 176 dribbles and completed 57% of them.

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Mousa Dembele succeeded with 78% of his 87 dribbles, while Alexis Sanchez was successful with 61% of his 140 attempts.

Nantes' Amine Harit, with a 64% success rate from 122 dribbles, and Lazio's Felipe Anderson, who completed 47% of his 220 attempts, complete the top 10.

Ronaldo, meanwhile, doesn't even appear in CIES' top 100 dribblers in Europe. According to WhoScored.com, the Real Madrid superstar has attempted 53 dribbles in La Liga, of which just 21 were successful – a rate of 40%.
