SHOCKING: Neymar’s Horrific Injury Record In Numbers

SHOCKING: Neymar’s Horrific Injury Record In Numbers

With the news that Neymar will once again undergo surgery after suffering yet another serious injury, we decided to take a look at the Brazilian's horrific injury record, in numbers, since he left Barcelona in 2017 to become the most expensive signing in history.

Barcelona

The Brazilian, then considered a sensation, joined the Catalan club in 2013 from Santos with a clean record, before going on to represent the LALIGA giants on 186 occasions over a four-year period, during which he formed part of arguably the greatest front three of all time alongside Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez! In Spain, Neymar became globally recognised as one of the world's best players as he helped the Blaugrana celebrate a famous treble under Luis Enrique, scoring in a famous 3-1 win over Juventus in the UEFA Champions League final in 2015.

Still, to this day, fans reminisce about what it was like watching Neymar in full flow at Barcelona as they remember him for his skills, flair, goals and masterful link-up play, specifically with Messi, who became a good friend of his over the course of their time together in Spain. According to Transfermarkt, the Brazilian missed 32 games through injury for the Catalans, with 10 matches being the most he missed at once for club and country during his stint in Barcelona.

Paris Saint-Germain Al Hilal

His move to Paris was supposed to signal the beginning of a new era in football as the Qatari-backed giants, who paid €222 million (R4.4 billion) for his signature, believed Neymar, based on his achievements in Spain and his growing reputation, would be the difference-maker in their hunt for European glory! Six years later, however, and it is fair to suggest PSG will be massively disappointed with the way things turned out, with his unfortunate medical record decisive when it comes to how his time at the club is looked back upon.

With the injuries he sustained while at Les Parisiens, Neymar missed a staggering 143 matches in all competitions for club and country! For further context, and this is a statistic that some might even find hard to believe, the Brazilian played fewer matches for the French giants in six years than he did for Barcelona in four. His latest knock, though, is expected to keep him out for a longer spell on the sidelines than he has previously experienced. It is suggested Neymar will be absent for 194 days for new club Al Hilal, who made him one of the world's highest-paid footballers in August, a period during which he could be unavailable for another 24 games.
