According to Don Balon, a phone call between the two countrymen has been revealed months after the conversation actually took place.
Mourinho reportedly told Ronaldo he would not win any trophies with Portugal until he managed the national team – words he was forced to go back on after their European Championship success in 2016.
The United manager reportedly called Ronaldo to apologise for his comments after their win over France in the final, as well as congratulate the Portugal captain, who showed unbelievable leadership qualities at the tournament.
Ronaldo and Mourinho seemingly have a love/hate relationship, with the pair believed to have clashed on several occasions during their time together at Los Blancos.
Despite the tension, however, Mourinho is the only manager Ronaldo has won a La Liga title with at Real, in the 2011/12 season.
