Nicola Caricola: Juventus Must Follow Messi To The Toilet

Former Champions League winner with the Bianconeri Nicola Caricola believes that Juventus need to follow FC Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi to the toilet in the final on Saturday.

In an exclusive interview with Soccer Laduma's Kurt Buckerfield, Caricola was asked how Juventus should go about stopping the Argentine in the final.

"Well I think we should go back to how used to play in the 1980's and the 1990's," he answered.

"I think the best thing a coach can do is put one player on top of him, and say, 'Don't play today… just watch Messi! Even if Messi goes to the toilet, go with him!'

"That's the typical way to stop a great player.

"Try stay close to him and limit his actions on the field."

Caricola also said that he would choose Messi over Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo, and explained his reasons as to why.

"I think because Messi is more of a genius – he can produce something special in any moment of the game," he said.

"Ronaldo is more physically strong and a great player, but Messi brings me more joy when I watch him play.

"Also Messi's attitude makes the difference for me too!"

Caricola lifted the famous European trophy in 1985, after his Juventus side beat Liverpool at the Heysel Stadium in Belgium, where 39 people sadly lost their lives after a stand collapsed – a night known as the 'Heysel Disaster'.
