Report: Nice 1-4 Paris Saint-Germain
Date: 18 October 2019
Venue: Allianz Arena
Angel di Maria and Kylian Mbappe grabbed the headlines as Paris Saint-Germain thrashed OGC Nice 4-1 at the Allianz Arena on Friday evening.
Despite missing the big names in the attack, it was one of the squad veterans who got the opening goal as Angel di Maria broke the deadlock on 15 minutes.
Six minutes later, Thomas Tuchel's charges managed to bag the second goal after Di Maria lashes home his second on the night and fourth Ligue 1 goal of the season with a superb lob.
Nice manager Patrick Vieira was under pressure heading into the tie, having only secured one win in their last five games and their lack of chances in the opening 45 minutes did nothing to ease the pressure of their manager.
Vieira's team talk at halftime seemed to done the trick for Nice, who came out firing in the second half as they pulled a goal back just after the hour mark through Ganago's first-time finish after some good work by Kasper Dolberg.
Tuchel opted to thrown on Mbappe soon after and the World Cup winner made the perfect impact after bagging the third goal on 90 minutes with a neat finish from close range.
There was enough time for a fourth goal as Mbappe turned provider to pick out Mauro Icardi for the simple tap-in from close range to round off an emphatic win for the defending champions.
