With FC Barcelona record goalscorer Lionel Messi equalling Iker Casillas' incredible LaLiga wins record on the weekend, the former Real Madrid goalkeeper has now commented on the five-time Ballon d'Or winner's latest feat.

Messi, who is currently the leading goalscorer in Europe's top five leagues, was his usual influential self as he netted a brace in the LaLiga table-toppers' 2-0 victory over Espanyol on Saturday evening.In addition to becoming the first player to reach the 40-goal mark in Europe's elite leagues this season, Messi also equalled Casillas' record for the most wins (334) in the Spanish top flight's history with the abovementioned triumph over Espanyol.
The Spanish shot-stopper, who achieved the feat in 510 appearances as opposed to Messi's 414 appearances, was full of praise for the Argentine superstar, but maintained that he would have liked a player from his former club to have matched or surpassed his record.

"I'd have preferred it to be a Real Madrid player, but these types of records are there to be broken and he has always done a great job," Casillas told Marca.
"He deserves the recognition. I am convinced that somebody will come who'll also surpass his total."
Messi has made 38 appearances across all competitions for the Blaugrana so far this season, finding the back of the net on 41 occasions and registering a further 21 assists.
