A former FC Barcelona midfielder has leaped to Neymar's defence, following the Brazilian's recent performances.

The Brazilian superstar has struggled for form of late, having failed to find the back of the net for six games, before scoring against Deportivo La Coruna from the penalty spot.
Despite netting 23 goals in La Liga this season, the 23-year-old has come under a lot of criticism for his recent performances, but former Barcelona midfielder Edgar Davids believes it's normal to have a slump.
"If you are Neymar or [Lionel] Messi or [Luis] Suarez, people expect every week back-to-back goals or brilliant performances," Davids told Marca.
"Let's be honest, they're human.
"He did fantastic last season, and it's only human to have a little bit of a slump but it's still there for him to finish the season on top."
The Dutch legend also believes his former club are still favourites to lift the league title this season.
"It's tight but still Barcelona are Barcelona and they will always have an opportunity to win," he added.
"They're a bit sloppy lately but I'm confident that they will be able to defend it."
