Despite his off-field troubles with Cristiano Ronaldo in 2016, former FC Barcelona star Dani Alves has admitted that the former Real Madrid has the ability to "ruin" defenders.

Alves and Ronaldo were embroiled in controversy four years ago, after the Portuguese reportedly refused to shake his hand at the 2016 Ballon d'Or ceremony in Zurich, Switzerland.
The ex-Los Blancos forward said that this was because of previous comments the Brazilian had made about him, but the fullback claimed at the time that his remarks had been twisted.
The pair went head to head for many years in Spain, and while they had their differences on and off the pitch, Alves has now insisted Ronaldo is the best player he has gone up against.

"He never made me really suffer because I was focused, but the most difficult opponent I've faced has been Cristiano Ronaldo, without any doubt," he told Hoy no se sale.
"He's that type of opponent that you have to be 100% focused on. If you are at 99%, he will ruin you and will make you look silly.
"When I was with (Pep) Guardiola, I think I made him suffer more than he did me."
Alves currently plays for Sao Paulo in his home country, after representing Sevilla, Barcelona, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain in Europe.
