Bruno Reacts To Ronaldo Trying To Claim His Goal

Bruno Reacts To Ronaldo Trying To Claim His Goal

Bruno Fernandes has reacted to Cristiano Ronaldo's apparent attempt to claim his goal following Portugal's 2-0 win over Uruguay in the 2022 FIFA World Cup on Monday night.

Rashford Responds To Ronaldo Leaving Man Utd

The Manchester United midfielder struck a brace on Monday to secure his nation's place in the tournament's round of 16, after FIFA awarded A Selecao's opening goal to him despite rapturous celebrations from free agent Ronaldo, who seemed to believe he got a touch on Fernandes' cross before the ball hit the back of the net.

Fernandes, 28, later scored a second from the penalty spot after his ex-club colleague had been taken off by coach Fernando Santos, becoming the first player at this World Cup to both score and assist twice.

Speaking after the game, the playmaker appeared unbothered by Ronaldo's initial celebrations, admitting that he thought the 37-year-old got his head to the ball.

"I don't think it really matters who scored the goal at this point," he said, according to the Daily Mail

"The feeling I had at the time was that Cristiano touched the ball. I was passing the ball to him.

"But the important thing was that we won tonight against a very tough opponent.

"The importance of us being first in the group includes us winning the next game, which would allow us to come out of the group undefeated. That is what we want.

"We have a very organised team (South Korea) ahead of us on Friday, and our objective is to take it match by match."

Mbappe In Hot Water With FIFA?

Fernandes has made 51 appearances for Portugal, contributing to 23 goals along the way.
