A former FC Barcelona player believes that superstar Lionel Messi ate too much last season.

Carles Rexach, who played over 300 domestic games for the Spanish giants, said that the Argentine was in bad physical condition last season, adding that perhaps it's because he ate more than he should have – also saying he believes Luis Enrique implemented too many rules at Barcelona.
"Before he ate at the club and rested after, but it seems as if Messi ate more pizzas than he should have last year," he told Marca.
"Luis Enrique has started by imposing too many rules - if you don't train you don't play.
"Let's see what happens when Messi doesn't train and he needs him."
The former Spain international also spoke on Pep Guardiola and Tito Vilanova's relationship, and how they grew apart, saying that the Bayern boss never visited Vilanova in hospital when he was sick with cancer.
"Both had offers to manage Manchester United, at the end of their sabbatical years," he added.
"Things got worse in New York when Tito went to a clinic to undergo cancer treatment and Pep, who was living there at the time with his family, never went to see him.
"He knew he was there because both their wives met."
Lionel Messi has come into magnificent this season for the Spanish giants, scoring 38 goals and assisting 21 in 36 games.
