Ten Hag Makes Big Admission Over Greenwood's Future

Ten Hag Makes Big Admission Over Greenwood's Future

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has made a big admission over Mason Greenwood's future at the Red Devils, with the striker having not played any football since January 2022.

Although the 21-year-old has been cleared of all criminal charges, it is still unclear as to whether or not he will turn out for the 20-time English champions again.

Greenwood was arrested in January last year on suspicion of attempted rape, engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

United responded swiftly by suspending him indefinitely, and are still said to be conducting an internal investigation following the dropping of the charges in February 2023.

After being asked the latest on Greenwood's future in a recent interview with The Times, Ten Hag said the forward had "shown in the past that he is capable of doing that [scoring as a forward for United]", but also admitted that it is "not my decision as to whether he returns".

Following the ruling earlier this year, it was reported that United would likely reach a conclusion over the academy graduate's future at the end of the season only.

Greenwood said in a statement at the time that he was relieved the matter was over, but gave no indication as to when he would return to the game.

He has since been linked with a move away from the club, with teams in Italy and Turkey believed to have expressed interest in his signature.
