Having recently had his criminal charges dropped, Mason Greenwood has now reportedly met with the Manchester United hierarchy for the first time.
Man Utd End 6-Year Drought By Clinching League Cup
The 21-year-old is currently suspended by the club following his arrest early last year. The England international was accused of rape, assault, and coercive behaviour, but those charges were dropped earlier this month, with the Red Devils then making the decision to conduct their own investigation into the matter.
The forward will not return to the club before they have concluded their investigation as to how the arrest happened and why it was such a lengthy process for the charges to be dropped.
According to The Sun, United want to be thorough when it comes to the investigation, which means hearing Greenwood's version of events too. The two parties reportedly met last week to conduct an interview, the first time the club and the Manchester native have met since he was arrested in January 2022.
A source close to the situation revealed that the meeting took place prior to the English giants' victory over Barcelona in the UEFA Europa League last week, adding that: "Mason and his team met with the club to start the process of trying to get to the bottom of exactly what may or may not have happened.
"It is an extremely sensitive situation and the club think it is only fair that Mason is given the opportunity to fully explain himself.
