Pogba's Agent Makes Admission About His Time At Man Utd

Pogba's Agent Makes Admission About His Time At Man Utd

Paul Pogba

With his underwhelming spell at Manchester United having recently come to an end, Paul Pogba's agent has revealed the reason why the Frenchman did not live up to his world-record transfer fee in England.

Ten Hag Sends Message To CR7 After Angry Sub Reaction

When Pogba returned to Old Trafford for a club-record fee of €105 million (R1.8 billion) from Juventus, the hope was that the France international would help catapult the club back to the summit of English and European football.

While it seemed like that was the trajectory United were headed towards after Pogba's inaugural season back in Manchester, what followed was a tumultuous five years.

The Red Devils failed to add any more silverware to their trophy cabinet after the 2016/17 campaign, leading many to feel Pogba failed as a United player.

However, the 29-year-old's new agent Rafaela Pimenta has explained why the United faithful were not able to see the midfielder at his best consistently.

"Paul was playing all the time for Manchester United when he was not injured," she told The Telegraph.

"When he was injured, that was something else. He did not choose to be injured. But he played when he was not injured.

"Now I think Manchester United is going through a transitional phase... United is going through a restructuring phase and I think Paul was part of that phase.

"They are still going through it and they will make it, I have no doubt but Paul was in the middle of it."

However, while Pogba, who returned to Juventus in July, may have left Manchester with a dark cloud hanging over him, Pimenta also insisted that the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner still has a soft spot for United.

"Paul made a choice of the heart, at the time [2016] He really wanted to go back to United," she added.

"The happiness he felt going back was like home. So, I am sure it was the right choice. Now, were there expectations for more trophies and more achievements? Yes, there was.

"But they didn't come. But I think when things don't happen it's best to take joint responsibility when there is joint responsibility. You have to acknowledge it.

"But I don't think Paul is to blame for things not going as we would have liked them to have gone, right?"
