Two leading candidates have emerged in recent weeks regarding the sale of United, with Qatari Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad al-Thani and Sir Jim Ratcliffe in the running to procure the record Premier League champions.
Despite the two parties being set to meet with the Glazers over a possible sale, the American family is weighing up all its options, including scrapping the sale altogether.
Neither Al-Thani nor Ratcliffe have come close to the United owners' valuation of £6 billion (R132 billion) for the club, and according to The Sun, they are giving serious consideration to staying put as they look to expand the Red Devils' commercial endeavours.
The report suggests that the Glazers, who also own an NFL franchise, are considering creating a new entity with the Los Angeles-based Ares Management fund that would see them generate funds for the club from potential opportunities in digital sales, video gaming and merchandise licensing.
The Glazers have come under tremendous scrutiny in the past for having prioritised the club's commercial interests over matters on the pitch, which is why United's sale had been welcomed by many of the team's fans in recent months.

Raine Group, the investment banking form overseeing the club's sale, is understood to still be looking at all its options, with Al-Thani reportedly wanting a full takeover while Ratcliffe would only be able to purchase a 69% stake in the club should either of their respective bids be successful.
