Manchester United, who were without Paul Pogba and Anthony Martial, returned to winning ways against Leicester City thanks Marcus Rashford's third goal of the season.
The Red Devils were without Paul Pogba, Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard for the encounter, while Marcus Rashford led the attack for a second straight game. The England international certainly got off to a positive start after he opened the scoring from the penalty spot on 10 minutes after being brought down by Caglar Soyuncu in the box. Leicester, meanwhile, managed to see a bit of the ball as the half went on, but they were ultimately let down by their final pass as David de Gea only had to deal with two efforts big efforts in the opening 45 minutes. United took control from the onset in the second half, and nearly bagged a second but Juan Mata was denied by a fine save from Kasper Schmeicel in the opening 10 minutes. Soon after, Brendan Rodgers opted for his change just before the hour mark as off-season signing Ayoze Perez was brought on, with Hamza Choudhury making way. Both sides threw bodies forward in search of goals, but United edged the chances as Harry Maguire went close with a towering header against his former side. Rashford went agonsingly close to bagging United's second with six minutes remaining, as the striker's curling free-kick rattled the frame of the goal with Schmeicel well beaten. In the end, United were able to see out the remaining stages of the second half to get their campaign back on track.
