French Ligue 1
Result: Montpellier 0-1 Paris Saint-Germain
Date: 21 August 2015
Venue: Stade de la Mosson
Paris Saint-Germain continued their fine start to the Ligue 1 season with a 1-0 win over Montpellier on Friday night.
The Ligue 1 champions were once again without the services of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and new signing, Angel Di Maria, which meant Ezequiel Lavezzi joined Edison Cavani and Lucas Moura in the attack.
The visitors nearly went ahead after seven minutes when David Luiz's swerving free-kick forced Ligali into an Unorthodox save.
PSG were dealt a blow in the 10th minute as Javier Pastore pulled up with an injury and was replaced by Adrien Rabiot.
The home side could have went ahead after the 30-minute mark but Anthony Mounier's decision-making let him down, as he fired horribly wide from close range, while he's teammates were better positioned.
PSG kept pushing for the opener and were nearly rewarded just before the halftime break but Lavezzi's effort from inside the area sailed just wide of the upright.
Kevin Trapper was called into action shortly after the halftime break, as the PSG goalkeeper reacted sharply to keep out Ramy Bensebain's glancing header.
The French Champions eventually broke the deadlock in the 60th minute when Lavezzi picked out Maxell, who in turn laid the ball off for Blaise Matuidi to bury home at the near post.
PSG should have doubled their advantage in the 80th minute when Lucas played Jean-Kévin Augustin through on goal, however the striker failed to fire past Ligali.
Laurent Blanc's side managed to see out the remaining stages with relative ease and held on for their third straight league win.
Along with their three successive league wins, PSG are yet to conceded a goal since the start of the season, which includes the Super Cup.
