Result: Leganes 1-1 Real Madrid
Date: 15 April 2019
Venue: Estadio Municipal de Butarque
Karim Benzema's 18th goal of the season salvaged a point for Real Madrid, who drew 1-1 with Leganes in LaLiga on Monday evening.
Gareth Bale dropped to the bench after struggling in recent matches, while Thibaut Courtois and Toni Kroos were not included in the matchday squad.
The hosts got off to a lively start and they nearly went ahead after 15 minutes through Martin Braithwaite, who fired over from point-blank range.
Zinedine Zidane's men enjoyed a lot of the possession in the first half but even with the likes of Luka Modric, Isco and Marco Asensio, they struggled to carve out clear-cut openings.
The deadlock was broken on the stroke of halftime, but it was Leganes who went ahead as Braithwaite turned provider to pick out Jonathan Silva, who fired past Keylor Navas from the edge of the box.
Los Blancos were level six minutes into the second half as Benzema slotted home from close range after his initial effort was saved by Ivan Cuellar.
Despite the lively start to the second half from both sides, chances were few and far between for most of the stanza.
As a result, Zidane introduced Lucas Vazquez and Gareth Bale in the final 15 minutes as the visitors went in search of the go-ahead goal.
Real threw bodies forward in search of an equaliser, but Leganes remained resolute at the back to hold on for a point.
