The club is said to be preparing salary improvements for midfield duo Ivan Rakitic and Sergio Busquets, with the latter's weekly wage to be increased considerably.
Busquets' duration of contract and release clause of €200 million (R3.3 billion) will reportedly stay the same, but the Blaugrana plan to show his importance to them by boosting his earnings.
The likes of Gerard Pique, Sergi Roberto and Samuel Umtiti have signed new deals in recent months, as has Messi, whose weekly wage was reportedly increased to £500 000 (R8.3 million), with the Argentine continuing to be the best-paid player in LaLiga.
According to Marca, the Catalans are concerned about the amount of money they are spending on wages, and feel matters will only get worse if salary caps are not introduced at some point.
After the club see to Rakitic and Busquets, their plan is to also extend Jordi Alba's contract, with his current deal expiring in two years.

The second-best earner at the Blaugrana remains Luis Suarez, while the likes of Ousmane Dembele and Philippe Coutinho are also believed to be on high wages.
