The 36-year-old, who has not yet officially retired from the game but is without a permanent club since September 2015, has shown his support for the Brazilian Serie A side following the news that most of their first team players were among the 71 casualties of a plane crash on Monday last week – Chapecoense were on their way to the Copa Sudamericana final when the tragedy occurred.
Following Ronaldinho's latest Instagram post, rumours spread that he had signed for the club in order to help them rebuild the first team, with even English publication The Sun initially posting the story.

However, it was later confirmed that these reports are in fact false, and that the Brazil legend has not joined Chapecoense, despite showing his continued support.
"At the moment, there hasn't been any contact, but if there is we'll certainly talk about it," Ronaldinho's brother and agent, Roberto Assis, explained last week.
"We would have to see if it would be for a memorial game or if we would establish a contractual relationship."

Meanwhile, the Brazilian club's interim president Ivan Tozzo has affirmed that his club will be declared champions of the Copa Sudamericana, a decision which is likely to be confirmed by the South American Football Confederation after a meeting to be held on 21 December.
