Atletico Legend Lauds Lewandowski’s Quality

An Atletico Madrid legend has pulled the curtain back on what makes Barcelona hitman Robert Lewandowski.

Atletico Madrid legend Diego Godin has revealed what makes Barcelona talisman Robert Lewandowski such a threat following his exploits against his former club this past weekend.

On Sunday evening at the Civitas Metropolitano, the Polish hitman extended his lead at the top of the Pichichi standings when he kickstarted the Blaugrana's miraculous come-from-behind 4-2 victory over Los Rojiblancos. The 34-year-old scored Barca's first goal in the 70th minute, taking his league goal tally to 22, as he looks to win his second LaLiga golden boot award in three seasons.

Out of the last 10 league campaigns, Lewandowski has scored over 20 goals in nine of them, and with 11 games still to play for Hansi Flick's charges in the Spanish top flight, he could very well break the 30-goal mark for the first time in the Iberian Peninsula.

Godin, who came up against the Warsaw native during his time with Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League, has shed light on what makes the Poland skipper such a formidable opponent.

"We're talking about a player in Lewandowski who is a world-class player with tremendous technical talents and skills to really hurt Atletico," the 2013/14 LaLiga winner told Soccer Laduma.

"He is still at the top of his game, scoring lots of goals. It's clear his great virtue is to score goals in any way possible, he's a good header of the ball, he is good with his feet, he is good with playing with his back to goal, plays very well as a pivot, he's able to run around players on either side and we're talking about one of the best strikers in the world.

"Particularly when he is around the penalty area, he takes any opportunity to score, to shoot, and if you just give him a centimetre of space, he's going to try and score and that is the reason why he is still scoring so many goals."
