With just one week remaining before the transfer window closes, here are the most expensive January deals so far, including a Zimbabwe international, while Real Madrid broke their record for a transfer fee paid in January.

Overall, it has been a rather quiet transfer window so far, in particular for Premier League clubs. As a consequence, it will not surprise many that no EPL transfer is considered among the costliest deals of the window thus far.
At the top of the ranking is Dejan Kulusevski, who joined Juventus from Atalanta for a fee of €35 million (R556 million), as per Transfermarkt. However, the 19-year-old will only run out for his new side in the coming season as he was immediately loaned back to Parma, where he had spent the first half of 2019/20 campaign on loan.

Brazilian wonderkid Reinier became Los Blancos' most expensive January buy ever when he moved to the Santiago Bernabeu from Flamengo. The €30 million (R477 million) they paid for the 18-year-old midfielder surpassed their €27 million (R429 million) outlay for Klaas-Jan Huntelaar in January 2009.
A transfer that has already paid dividends is Borussia Dortmund's €20 million (R318 million) acquisition of Erling Haaland. The 19-year-old joined BVB from RB Leipzig and scored a hat-trick off the bench on his debut for the Bundesliga club.
Meanwhile, Julian Weigl moved to Benfica from Dortmund for the same fee. In fact, there are five players who have found new clubs in deals worth €20 million, with Raul de Tomas, Stanislav Lobotka and Youssef En-Nesyri all moving to new pastures in this window.
Exequiel Palacios, who joined Bayer Leverkusen from River Plate for a fee of €17 million (R270 million), and Zimbabwe international Tino Kadewere follow. The latter was bought by Olympique Lyon from Le Havre in a deal worth €15 million (R238 million) after scoring 18 goals in the first half of the 2019/20 Ligue 2 campaign.

New Napoli signing Amir Rrahmani completes the list, even though the €14 million (R223 million) signing from Hellas Verona was loaned back to his former club immediately.
