Despite their reported financial troubles, Barcelona have already spent more than €100 million (R1.9 billion) ahead of the next campaign – more than any other club so far.

The Blaugrana's biggest outlay was €60 million (R1.15 billion) they paid for Miralem Pjanic, in what was essentially a swap deal that saw Arthur Melo go the other way.

Juventus paid €72 million (R1.38 billion) for the Brazilian midfielder, making him the most expensive transfer ahead of 2020/21 so far.

Alvaro Morata's €56.6 million (R1.09 billion) permanent transfer as part of his loan from Chelsea to Atletico Madrid completes the podium, while Timo Werner just missed out.

The German striker moved from RB Leipzig to Chelsea for a fee of €53 million (R1 billion), and will leave the Bundesliga side before the upcoming completion of the 2019/20 UEFA Champions League in August, with Die Roten Bullen having qualified for the quarter-finals.

The transfers of Achraf Hakimi and Hakim Ziyech, as well as Barca's acquisition of a starlet dubbed the "next Cristiano Ronaldo", also made the top 10 – you can see it in full in the gallery above!
