FC Barcelona confirmed the shock addition of Kevin-Prince Boateng before announcing a €75 million signing, while Chelsea splashed €64 million on a Bundesliga star and also loaned Gonzalo Higuain – here are the biggest transfers of this month so far.

Boateng became the 13th African to sign for Barca's first team in a move which truly shocked the football world. The 31-year-old signed a six-month loan deal with an option to make it permanent for €8 million (R124 million).
The Blaugrana also won the race for Frenkie De Jong, agreeing to transfer worth €75 million (R1.16 billion) plus another €11 million (R171 million) in add-ons for the midfielder, who will join the club after the 2018/19 campiagn.
Chelsea are another club with a busy transfer window so far. The Blues saw Cesc Fabregas depart to join AS Monaco for an undisclosed fee, while they also signed Borussia Dortmund winger Christian Pulisic. The 20-year-old joined the Blues in a deal worth €64 million (R994 million), but was loaned back to Dortmund until the end of the season.
Gonzalo Higuain also joined Chelsea in an initial loan deal, which can either be extended for another year or be made permanent for €34 million (R528 million).
Higuain, who was on loan at AC Milan from Juventus in the first half of the campaign, was replaced by Krzysztof Piatek after the Poland striker joined the Serie A side for €35 million (R544 million).

Real Madrid, meanwhile, had a relatively quiet transfer window and only bought Manchester City talent Brahim Diaz for €17 million.
