8 Transfers That Could Still Happen Before Deadline

Edinson Cavani (Paris Saint-Germain to Atletico Madrid)

Here are eight transfers that could still be completed in this window, with Manchester United and FC Barcelona still chasing expensive signings, while Jose Mourinho could see two arrivals and one departure.

It sounds like Tottenham Hotspur boss Mourinho could have a busy few days ahead, with Christian Eriksen set to leave the club. The attacking midfielder arrived at Inter Milan for a medical on Monday, ahead of a proposed move to Antonio Conte's side.

In terms of Spurs incomings, Mourinho has seemingly identified Steven Bergwijn as his second signing of the window. As confirmed by his club PSV Eindhoven, the Dutch winger was allowed to skip training on Tuesday amid talks over a €32 million (R510 million) transfer. With the Bergwijn transfer still up in the air, the Lilywhites could also still complete the loan signing of AC Milan striker Krzysztof Piatek too.

Please note: Eriksen's move to Inter has since been confirmed.

FC Barcelona could also still do business as they are understood to be keen to sign Valencia striker Rodrigo. According to AS, talks are ongoing as the Blaugrana prefer a loan with a purchase option at a later stage in order to avoid paying his €60 million (R968 million) release clause in January. It has been claimed that Valencia president Anil Murthy is in Barcelona to complete the deal, while Rodrigo did not take part in training on Tuesday.

Valencia themselves could find a replacement for Rodrigo in Paco Alcacer. The Borussia Dortmund forward could return to his former club after falling down the pecking order at the Bundesliga side following the arrival of Erling Haaland at Signal Iduna Park.

United are still seemingly locked in talks with Sporting Lisbon over midfielder Bruno Fernandes' signature, but negotiations between the two clubs seem to have hit a dead end. What sounded like a certain deal a week or two ago will only be completed if the Portuguese club and the Red Devils finally agree on a fee, with Sporting said to be holding out for £60 million (R1.15 billion), while the Mancunians were hoping to complete his transfer for a fee of £42 million (R802 million).

Dortmund are also believed to be closing in on Juventus misfit Emre Can, while Edinson Cavani's transfer to Atletico Madrid also seems likely to materialise before the window shuts on Friday.
