11 Big-Name Transfers That Could Still Happen In January

The January window closes in just 10 days' time, but some big transfers, involving clubs such as FC Barcelona, Real Madrid, Manchester United and Chelsea, could still take place before the deadline.

Manchester United's pursuit of Bruno Fernandes began before of the current campaign, but the Sporting Lisbon midfielder is yet to arrive at Old Trafford.

The latest reports from Portugal, as cited by the Daily Star, suggest that the Portuguese side has lowered their asking price from £51 million (R964 million) up front plus £8.5 million (R161 million) in bonuses to £42.6 million (R805 million) as an initial payment with the same add-ons.

United reportedly rejected the initial demands, but could now finally land their preferred midfield target.

Meanwhile, FC Barcelona are desperate to add another striker to their squad after Luis Suarez picked up an injury that is expected to keep him sidelined for four months. The Guardian and Sport have claimed that names such as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Timo Werner are high on the Spanish club's wish list, but it remains to be seen whether or not they can convince their current clubs to sell in mid-season.

Meanwhile, Inter Milan seem likely to get Christian Eriksen from Tottenham Hotspur, with the playmaker believed to be keen to leave. According to the Daily Mail, the Serie A side has offered £11 million (R208 million) for the player, who is out of contract in June, while Spurs are believed to be holding out for £17 million (R321 million).
