The coronavirus pandemic has created a special situation for clubs and players around the world, with many domestic leagues having to prolong the current season.
As a consequence, FIFA allowed clubs and players to sign short-term deals in order to complete the campaign with their teams, with the likes of Willian, David Silva and Zlatan Ibrahimovic taking up the option.
However, they are also a few situations where players and clubs could not agree such deals. Paris Saint-Germain, for example, lost Edinson Cavani and Thomas Meunier, who will not take part in the completion of this season's UEFA Champions League.
"All the players are important to create a group and a mentality, and to lose these two (Cavani and Meunier) decreases the group," disgruntled PSG boss Thomas Tuchel said, as quoted by Goal.
"We have always played with these players and therefore we lose quality with their departures, that's for sure.
"After that it will not be impossible and I am convinced that we will be very strong. We have to prepare this team for the two finals with a very good mentality.
"We played an extraordinary Champions League with everyone. It is different but not impossible."
Les Parisiens have already qualified for the quarter-finals of the Champions League, which will be completed once the Premier League, Serie A and LaLiga seasons are finished in August.
