The European transfer window has officially closed, but clubs looking to do business can still sign one of these free agents, including a former Real Madrid star and an ex-Juventus stalwart.

Among those on the free agent market is former Los Blancos defender Fabio Coentrao, who left Portuguese side Rio Ave at the end of last season. The 31-year-old, who was once one of Europe's leading fullbacks, has done well to come back from a spate of injuries and would be a good signing for a club looking for an experienced option on the left flank.

Former Juventus star Claudio Marchisio is another veteran available on the cheap. The 33-year-old had his contract with Zenit St Petersburg terminated by mutual consent last season after making just nine league appearances for the Russian side. The seven-time Serie A champion was previously linked with a move to China but remains on the market for potential suitors.
Ivory Coast international Wilfried Bony is also currently without a club after running down his contract with Swansea City. The former Manchester City forward, who recently took part in the Africa Cup of Nations, is reportedly in talks to return to the Premier League to join Brighton Hove Albion and could complete a move in the coming days.
