Algeria's Islam Slimani finished top scorer in the qualifiers after scoring seven of Algeria's 25 goals and only featured in six matches.

Slimani's Algeria teammate Riyad Mahrez was among five footballers to score five goals in the qualifiers, including Zambia's Fashion Sakala.

Mamelodi Sundowns star Peter Shalulile would have been on the same tally as Mahrez and Sakala, but his penalty miss against Togo means he finished the qualifiers with four goals.
