FIFA President Gianni Infantino has shared some special praise for Al Ahly ahead of the FIFA Club World Cup.

The Red Devils are set to face Lionel Messi's Inter Miami side in the first game of the Club World Cup and Infantino revealed the status of the competition is elevated by the likes of Al Ahly playing in the tournament, he told the official Al Ahly website.
"I think it's definitely a great honour for a team like Al Ahly to play in the opening match of the very first Club World Cup," Infantino said.
"We all know that Al Ahly is a historic club, the club that won the most titles in African football. It has millions of fans, and what fans they have around the world. I am expecting many of them to come here," the President added.
The Italian said the opening match was history in the making and Al Ahly's presence in the game was fitting of the club.
"The opening match of the first World Cup will enter into history so the fact that Al Ahly plays in this competition and opens it with entering into history as well. am happy for all my friends in Egypt and all my friends at Al Ahly, and I am looking forward to this match."
Infantino praised Al Ahly's passionate fans and expected the Red Giant faithful to turn up in their numbers.
"Al-Ahly is not just a club or a sports club," he said. I have visited Al-Ahly before and I know the passion, the fans, the people who really live for the club.
He continued: "They are the ones who wrote the club's history and will shape its future. It is something very special and unique, and even neutral fans end up cheering for Al-Ahly when they see the fans."

Infantino concluded: "Come here, have fun, cheer for your team, and enjoy the World Cup. This event is global and happening for the first time, and it will be fantastic."
