Al Ahly's delegation received an official letter from FIFA on Wednesday stating that Hussein El Shahaat and Mahmoud Kahraba will not be allowed to participate in the club's third place playoff against Brazil's Palmeiras.

FIFA's decision to ban El Shahaat and Kahraba from Al Ahly's next game came after both players were found guilty of not following precautionary measures laid out by football's governing body after Ahly's 2-0 loss to Bayern Munich.

In post-match television footage, the duo were captured approaching the passionate Ahly supporters and shaking hands with some of them. Among the supporters was the team's former talismanic playmaker and all-time great, Mohamed Abou-Treika.

The acts by the players will come as a blow to Mosimane, who will have to do without his first team regulars as he goes in search of a bronze medal in the competition.

Meanwhile, the 56-year-old has reiterated his desire to walk away with an accolade on Thursday, albeit without two of his biggest stars.

"We must learn from the mistakes we made against Al Duhail SC and FC Bayern Munich before facing Palmeiras, as we are keen to win the bronze medal," Mosimane was quoted as telling Al Ahly's official website.

"The team showed several weak points against Al Duhail SC and FC Bayern Munich, in which we will deal with them. Also, we will work on improving our strength points ahead of facing the Brazilian side.

"The game against Palmeiras will not be easy. They are a strong team and have many good players and we must prepare well for the match against them in order to achieve the bronze medal."

Al Ahly will play against Brazil's Palmeiras in the third-place playoff of the FIFA Club World Cup on Thursday.
