Ex-Coach Reiner Hollmann Claims Al Ahly Can Shock Bayern Munich, Points To Weak Spot

Ex-Coach Reiner Hollmann Claims Al Ahly Can Shock Bayern Munich, Points To Weak Spot

A former Al Ahly coach has claimed that Pitso Mosimane's side can shock Bayern Munich in their FIFA Club World Cup semi-final on Monday, and revealed which player he thinks the Egyptian giants should target.

The Club of the Century booked their semi-final ticket after beating hosts Al Duhail 1-0 on Thursday.

Bayern, meanwhile, are only entering the tournament at the semi-final stage, and arrived in Qatar on Saturday following some troubles after their flight was delayed by more than six hours.

Ex-Ahly boss Reiner Hollmann, who coached the club between 1995 and 1997, believes Mosimane's men have what it takes to beat the 2019/20 UEFA Champions League winners, and insisted that they should look to exploit a "weak" David Alaba.

"Bayern Munich have a strong attacking life for sure, but Al Ahly can stop them and apply pressure on them," Hollmann said, as per Kingfut.

"Al Ahly is the biggest club in Africa and they are similar to Bayern Munich in Europe.

"We can notice that Bayern are not in their top condition lately, especially in defence and the midfield.

"Al Ahly need to close all the gaps against both Robert Lewandowski and Leroy Sane.

"They also need to focus on the counter-attacks, especially that David Alaba is not in form and we saw that in the Hertha Berlin game. He has become a weak point lately."

Bayern are attempting to claim a sextuple after already securing the UEFA Champions League, Bundesliga, DFB Pokal, UEFA Super Cup and German Super Cup titles over the past year, while Mosimane and Al Ahly have lifted the CAF Champions League, the Egypt Cup and the Egyptian Premier League trophies since "Jingles" took charge of the Red Devils in October 2020.
