Bayern Munich Boss Reacts To Win Over Pitso Mosimane's Al Ahly

Bayern Munich manager Hans-Dieter Flick has reacted to his side's 2-0 victory over Pitso Mosimane's Al Ahly in the semi-finals of the FIFA Club World Cup, which denied the former Mamelodi Sundowns coach a shot at history.

The 2019/20 UEFA Champions League winners defeated the CAF champions 2-0 courtesy of a brace by Robert Lewandowski, who has now scored an incredible 29 goals in 27 appearances this season.

Al Ahly put in a strong shift but failed to really threaten Bayern goalkeeper Manuel Neuer, and Flick was pleased with his side's performance.

"We travelled to Qatar because we want to win another trophy," he said after the match, as quoted by Kicker.

"We needed time to get into the run of the game. When we did, I think we dominated the match and deserved to score a second goal.

"We played well defensively, I'm very satisfied with my team."

The Bavarians will now face CONCACAF champions Tigres UNAL, who knocked out Copa Libertadores winners Palmeiras, in the final on Thursday, and will be aiming to become only the second team in football history to lift a sextuple

"I watched the first semi-final yesterday. Tigres is a very dynamic team with a lot of power," Flick added.

"We have to counter that well in the final."

Al Ahly, meanwhile, missed the chance to become only the third African team to reach the final of the tournament as the continent's long wait for an African winner continues.

Mosimane's men will now meet Palmeiras in the third-place play-off, and will be hoping to equal their achievement in the 2006 edition of the showpiece when they finished in third place.
