'I Don't Miss Anything About FC Barcelona'

Playing for FC Barcelona would generally be regarded as the pinnacle in almost any footballer's career, but one player says he has no regrets about leaving the club.

A recently-departed Blaugrana star has revealed that he does not miss anything about Barcelona after leaving the club in search of regular game time.

Dutch international Jasper Cillessen joined Valencia earlier in the month after spending the past three seasons as Barca's back-up goalkeeper to Marc-Andre ter Stegen.

In an interview with Marca, the 30-year old claimed that the move to Los Che was a step forward in his career, and that he was looking forward to playing more regularly.

"I don't miss anything. I've only been here for three weeks, but for me, Valencia has it all," he told the Spanish publication.

"I didn't play there (at Barcelona). Ter Stegen is a great goalkeeper who got better. I was there three years but I needed to play and I want to play, not just train.

"Valencia called me and I said 'Yes, I want'. It was easy. As I said, for me to come to Valencia is to take a step forward in my career, because what I want is to play.

"After three years on the bench in Barcelona, I want to play. Here I can have more options. The master decides. But I want to play."

The former Ajax Amsterdam star joined Valencia for a reported fee of €35 million (R548 million), although the transfer was effectively a swap-deal with Brazilian shot-stopper Neto going the other way.

Cillessen featured in only five LaLiga appearances for Barcelona during his three-year stay with the club, but was regularly used in the cup competitions.
