Barca To Sign Chelsea Duo?

Barca To Sign Chelsea Duo?

Reports suggest that Barcelona are currently in the process of negotiating the signings of a midfield duo from Chelsea for next season.

Iniesta: I Would Like To Return To Barcelona

According to Mas Que Pelotas, the Blues could be set for another transfer window dealing with the Blaugrana, with the Catalan giants reportedly in talks to sign Jorginho and N'Golo Kante.

As thing stand, both players will be available on free transfers once the season ends as their contracts are set to expire in June 2023.

The five-time European giants proved a thorn in the side of the west Londoners in the latest transfer window, when they hijacked the signings of both Raphinha and Jules Kounde from under Chelsea's nose, and lured Andreas Christensen and Marco Alonso to the Camp Nou on free transfers after their contracts expired at Stamford Bridge.

It appears Barca are looking at potential replacements for club legend Sergio Busquets, who turns 35 next year and is reportedly playing his final season at the Camp Nou.

The La Masia alumni's current deal in Catalonia also ends at the end of the 2022/23 campaign, and Jorginho and Kante are said to be lined up as potential replacements.

With the LaLiga giants still in the midst of a financial crisis, free transfers once again represent a strong business plan for Xavi Hernandez's team.

Atletico Confirm Permanent Signing Of Griezmann From Barca

Jorginho and Kante's futures could be decided in the coming weeks leading up the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, with new Blues boss Graham Potter set to gain an understanding as to where the team needs strengthening, and which players need moving on through a busy October and November period of fixtures.

Should the duo leave, major investment will be needed to ensure quality replacements are found, with Jude Bellingham and Frenkie de Jong both possible targets for Chelsea in the near future.
