The teenage sensation continued his meteoric rise in world football this past weekend when he bagged a brace in the Blaugrana's 4-1 away win over Girona.

The 17-year-old now has three goals and four assists in the opening five matches of the new LALIGA season, with the Barcelona native having helped his hometown club return to the summit of domestic football.

While another La Masia alumni is etching their name into football's history books in Catalonia, French giants Paris Saint-Germain were reportedly looking to take advantage of Barca's precarious financial situation by buying Lamine Yamal from the Spanish juggernauts over the past few months.

Les Parisiens' acquisition of Neymar in 2017 from the five-time European champions remains the world record for largest-ever transfer fee paid as the French side spent €222 million (R4.3 billion) to sign the Brazilian, and it seems PSG tried to break their own record with a new Barca star in Lamine Yamal.

The agent of Dani Olmo, 2024 UEFA European Championship Golden Boot winner and newest Barca signing, recently revealed that the record French champions submitted a bid worth €250 million (R4.9 billion) for the skilful attacker.

"One thing I know for sure is that Barcelona did reject a big offer for Lamine Yamal from PSG some months ago," agent Andy Bara told Podcast Inkubator. "The deal was worth somewhere around €250 million."
