Steven Gerrard led the way for Liverpool as they beat AFC Wimbledon 2-1 in their FA Cup Third Round clash on Monday.

Days after announcing his departure from the club, Gerrard showed his everlasting passion for the side as he netted a brace to see them through to the next round of the cup.   The visitors were first to open the scoring in the 13th minute as Gerrard put them in front. Manquillo swung in a brilliant cross from the right flank and the Liverpool talisman headed home from 12 yards to make it 1-0.   AFC Wimbledon by no means let the first strike get them down. They responded sharply and came close on two occasions around the half-hour mark before finding the equaliser.   The hosts got back on level terms in the 36th minute. Francomb's dangerous corner kick was headed against the Liverpool bar and bounced back towards Akinfenwa who slid in the strike from close range.   However, Gerrard restored the Reds' lead in the 62nd minute as he netted a trademark free-kick from 20 yards out, finding the top corner of Shea's net with great technique.   Both sides came close to scoring in the dying minutes of the clash with Gerrard once again in the thick of the action, but the score remained at 2-1 as Liverpool squeezed through.
