Goals from Bouna Sarr, Florian Thauvin, Hiroki Sakai, Dimitri Payet and an own goal from Stefan Ilsanker ensured the hosts' passage into the final four. Bruma and Jean-Kévin Augustin were on target for the Bundesliga outfit in the second leg.
Lazio came into the return fixture with a commanding 4-2 lead from the first leg, but the Austrian hit back with four goals of their own to win the tie 6-5 on aggregate. Moanes Dabour, Amadou Haidara, Hwang Hee-chan and Stefan Lainer were on target for Salzburg after Ciro Immobile put Lazio ahead after 55 minutes.
