Result: CSKA Moscow 2-2 Arsenal (3-6 agg.)

Date: 12 April 2018

Venue: VEB Arena

Arsenal advanced to the Europa League semi-finals following their 2-2 draw with CSKA Moscow in the second leg of their quarterfinal.

The Gunners came into the clash with a commanding 4-1 lead from the first leg at the Emirates Stadium last week.

The game was evenly poised for most of the opening stages of the first half this week, although chances were hard to come by in the opening 20 minutes.

The visitors managed to carve out an opening in the 23rd minute, but Alexandre Lacazette saw his shot blocked by Vasili Berezutski.

After a quiet spell, CSKA broke the deadlock in the 38th minute when Fedor Chalov slotted home on the rebound from close range after Petr Cech did brilliantly to keep out Aleksandr Golovin's initial header.

Five minutes into the second half, CSKA doubled their lead on the night, with Kirill Nababkin volleying past Cech from close range.

Arsenal had the ball in the back of the net on the hour mark when Mohamed Elneny headed past Roman Akinfeev, but the Egyptian was flagged offside.

The Gunners did a pull goal back with 15 minutes remaining as Danny Welbeck combined with Elneny before calmly slotting past the on-rushing Akinfeev.

Wenger's men pushed for more goals in the remaining stages of the second half, but Alex Iwobi squandered a good chance after 88 minutes when he fired with only Akinfeev to beat,

Aaron Ramsey did level matters in second-half stoppage time with a clinical finish, lobbing over the goalkeeper as the Gunners sealed their spot in the last four with a 6-3 aggregate win.
