Keeper Speaks After Being Attacked By Pitch Invader

A goalkeeper who was attacked by a pitch invader during a UEFA Europa League encounter has spoken out on the incident for the first time.

During Sevilla's 3-2 aggregate win over PSV Eindhoven on Thursday night, an alleged fan of the Dutch giants attacked the LaLiga outfit's shot-stopper.

Ruud van Nistelrooy's men were close to overturning a 3-0 deficit in the second leg of the round of 32 tie but ultimately came up short, despite late strikes from Luuk de Jong and Fabio Silva at the Phillips Arena.

Shortly before the referee's final whistle, however, a pitch invader ran towards Sevilla goalkeeper Marko Dmitrovic seemingly in a bid to attack him, before the Serbian was able to thwart the fan.

The 31-year-old grabbed the man and pinned him to the ground before players from both sides came to his aid.

After the match, Dmitrovic explained his recollection of the incident.

"He came and pushed me from behind," the goalkeeper stated, as per the Daily Mirror.

"He was probably angry about the result and a bit crazy already. He tried to hit me and I managed to grab him and wait for him to security will arrive.

"It's never nice to see this in football, it shouldn't happen, and from now on I hope these things are well punished."

With PSV now out of the Europa League, Van Nistelrooy will now look to get his fourth-placed Eredivisie side closer to Feyenoord, who are currently top of the Netherlands' premier division.
