Arsenal came from behind to secure a 3-1 win over Koln with Alexis Sanchez getting on the score-sheet with a wonderful strike.
The game was delayed by an hour due to crowd trouble outside the Emirates Stadium.
The hosts got off to a superb start and took the lead as Cordoba spotted Daivd Ospina off his line and chipped the shot-stopper from 30-yards out.
The Gunners pushed for an equaliser and went close after 22 minute when Alex Iwobi played in Theo Walcott, who fired well wide from close range.
Cologne were dealt a blow in the 35th minute when Hector was forced off with an injury and replaced by Milos Jojic.
Arsenal struggled to carve out any meaningful chances in the remaining 10 minutes of the half and went into the break trailing.
Sead Kolasinac was introduced at the start of the second half, and he brought the hosts level in the 49th minute with a powerful volley from close range.
The Gunners looked stronger as the half went on and they eventually took the lead in the 66th minute when Sanchez cut inside before curling home a sublime effort from 20-yards out.
The lead was extended in the 81st minute when Hector Bellerin swept home from six-yards out after Theo Walcott's initial strike was saved.
Arsenal pushed for more goals in the closing stages, but 3-1 is how the score remained as the referee brought an to the second half.
