The 58-year-old was relieved of his duties by Tottenham Hotspur on Monday morning, with a club statement citing chairman Daniel Levy as saying "things have not worked out as we both had envisaged".
Mourinho's dismissal comes on the back of a barren run for the Lilywhites, and also after Spurs confirmed that they will be one of the founding members of the new European Super League.
While some believed his sacking was linked with the latter, Fabrizio Romano and others close to Spurs have since confirmed that Mourinho was fired for sporting reasons.
José Mourinho sacking is not linked to Super League... and he’s never refused to take training today. He’s been fired because of results and no nothing else. ???? #THFC

The Athletic, who were among the first to report Mourinho's dismissal on Monday, also cited results as the main reason for Spurs' decision.
The club wanted Mourinho to help them qualify for the UEFA Champions League and with that target near unachievable following their latest run – they have just one win in their past five league games – his sacking seemingly became inevitable.
In addition, the club's bosses were also concerned about the coach's constant criticism of his own players, and believed many of the fans had turned on him.
As a consequence, they opted to dismiss him six days ahead of the Carabao Cup final, meaning he will leave Spurs without having lifted any silverware.
