Transfer Update: Salah Talks 'Begin'

The Saudi Pro League are reportedly very much in contention to sign Mohamed Salah at the end of the season.

With Mohamed Salah's contract at Liverpool set to expire in the coming months, the prolific winger is believed to be negotiating potential deals with new clubs.

Since Al Ittihad's £150 million (R3.6 billion) transfer fee for the Egyptian talisman was rejected by the Reds, the Saudi Pro League has earmarked the 32-year-old as a dream signing for the league.

The Pharaoh's skipper's existing deal with Liverpool concludes at the end of the campaign, and it has been widely rumoured that clubs in the oil-rich kingdom will try once again to land the attacker.

According to The Guardian, the two-time CAF Men's Player of the Year has been in discussions with clubs in Saudi Arabia, and they are confident that he will give strong consideration to making the transition to the Middle East.

With Al Hilal parting ways with Neymar at the start of the year, the Blue Wave were hoping to sign Salah before the FIFA Club World Cup, during the exceptional transfer window before the tournament. However, the same report states that this will not happen and that he will see out the remainder of his deal.

The Saudi Pro League expects to sign him for one of their Public Investment Fund-owned sides, but it is also understood that Salah is currently mulling an extension offer from Liverpool. The Merseyside outfit wants to retain their superstar talent but is facing strong competition from the lucrative top flight.

Other European giants were expected to be in contention for the three-time Premier League Golden Boot winner's signature, but it is believed that signing for another club within Europe seems unlikely.
