Sadio Mane Reacts After Match-Winning Performance

Sadio Mane

After delivering a Man of the Match performance for Liverpool against rivals Everton, during which he scored once and assisted two further strikes, Senegal star Sadio Mane has now given a reaction to his own showing.

With strike partners Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah rested for the encounter, Mane was at the heart of Liverpool's attack on Wednesday, and delivered with yet another stellar performance in the Reds' 5-2 win.

The Senegal international set up teammates Divock Origi and Xherdan Shaqiri for his team's first two goals on the night, before crowning the performance with a strike of his own, his ninth of this Premier League campaign, just before the half-time whistle.

Mane has now shared his thoughts on his match-winning performance, revealing that he enjoyed assisting his teammates more than his own goal.

"To be honest, I enjoyed more the assists," Mane told Liverpool's official website.

"These kind of games, I think you think only about the three points. In the game I was happy to get the goal, but the goal of Shaq I enjoyed the most because the control was nice, my acceleration with the ball was not bad, and the pass was really perfect timing and Shaq just put the ball in.

"When I get the ball, I try to watch my teammates before doing something, I think that's really important for every player. I saw Divock coming but he got blocked and at the same time Ad (Adam Lallana) was coming and he got blocked, so the only option was Shaq.

"And when I saw Shaqqy going in with a 100% run, I thought he was the man to give the ball to so I gave it to him and he scored a wonderful goal."

Mane was also quick to divert praise to his teammates, whom he believes played an equally important role in Liverpool's win over their Merseyside rivals.

"Obviously I think it was a great night for us," the former Southampton star added.

"Everybody saw how difficult it is against Everton in the last few years, sometimes we won but it was always tough. Before the game, we expected a very, very difficult game but I think finally we deserved to win because we created many chances and we made a very, very fast start."
